and Beverage Considerations
What to consider
when choosing a menu:
- Ask the
caterer if they have any specialties
- Your budget
- What most
of the people might like to eat in your area of the county
- What is
easy to serve and easy to eat (for example, no complicated dishes
like lobster that people have to cut the meat from the shell
in order to eat)
- What do
your parents like to eat?
- We suggest
sampling some dishes in order to get a good idea of what tastes
good and looks good since presentation is also important.
Is it necessary to serve alcohol?
- Alcohol
is usually offered at a function like an anniversary party unless
most of the people are teetotalers or do not drink out of religous
reasons. Although there is no rule saying alcohol must be served,
there may be a certain expectation among guests. One way to
keep costs down is to serve beer and wine ahead of time during
the social hour along with hor'dourves (optional). Then champagne,
wine, or nonalcoholic sparking cider can be served for the toast
to the anniversary couple at the beginning of the dinner. It
saves a lot of money not to serve mixed drinks.
